Habitability

We make a safe, dignified and sustainable return to affected homes possible.

Faced with the serious damage the October 2024 DANA floods caused to homes in the province of Valencia, we set up a structured response for households in socially and economically vulnerable situations. We focused on fixing the non-structural damage that stood in the way of safe, dignified living conditions, putting in place a modular, scalable operating model based on specialized tasks and on making the most of every resource.

From emergency to habitability (DANA 2024)

Fundación Felisa has published the report «De la emergencia a la habitabilidad (DANA 2024)», which gathers the key lessons on the recovery of the homes affected in Valencia.

It looks in depth at the barriers that still hold home repairs back and sets out the crucial role that organizations, companies and public administrations need to play in this rebuilding phase. The report also describes the micro-repair model the Foundation has developed, based on supplying materials and providing individual technical support to unblock processes that had stalled, and presents the Habitability Conditions Index, a new metric of our own designed to measure precisely the impact on homes and their condition before and after each intervention.
