Valencia Basket said goodbye to La Fonteta with a charity game for the people affected by the DANA floods

Thousands of people came together to turn every ticket into concrete help for the people affected by the floods.

On Sunday, June 29, Valencia Basket said goodbye to La Fonteta with one last great night before starting its new chapter at the Roig Arena. The Pabellón Fuente de San Luis thus closed 38 years of emotion, titles, unforgettable baskets and thousands of memories that have shaped several generations of Valencians.

But this farewell was much more than a simple tribute game; it was also a charity event, because:

Valencia Basket brought a genuine cast of legends onto the court for an unforgettable tribute to La Fonteta. A team made up of club icons, among them Fabricio Oberto, Romain Sato, Bernard Hopkins and Anna Gómez, took on another packed with stars of Spanish basketball, with names of the calibre of José Manuel Calderón, Sergio Rodríguez “El Chacho”, Carlos Jiménez and Marina Ferragut. It was a night full of emotion, nostalgia and gratitude that no fan wanted to miss.

The event was also backed by Cancha Solidaria Endesa, an Endesa initiative that matched the contributions of 1,300 fans who bought charity tickets. Thanks to that, the donation will reach more schools and multiply what it does for the children and young people whose sport was cut short by the disaster.

Everything raised at the tribute game will go in full, through Fundación Felisa, to this initiative, to support a return to the classroom that is normal, safe and healthy.

The “Todos con la Educación Física en el Cole” initiative began as an immediate response to the damage the DANA floods did to a great many schools in the Region of Valencia. Many of them suffered severe damage to their sports facilities and lost much of the equipment they need to teach physical education.

Physical education is much more than a school subject: it is a fundamental tool for students’ physical, emotional and social development, especially where they are already vulnerable.

For Fundación Felisa, this backing is an essential boost for carrying on with rebuilding work for the people affected by the floods.

The last game at La Fonteta will be remembered as a turning point. A night when the legends came together not only to honor the past but to light new hopes where they are needed most.
