One chapter closes, another opens: Fundación Felisa turns its efforts toward rebuilding

Today we are announcing the close of this chapter so that we can put all our energy into what is most urgent. Because needs change, and at Fundación Felisa we adapt

From day one, we were clear at Fundación Felisa: act fast, act humanely, act without delay, where the need is greatest.

Our mission with the DANA floods is to be where we are needed most, with answers that are quick, effective and human. In the short, medium and long term.

At Fundación Felisa we never act blind. We listen. We watch. We adapt. From the first day after the floods, we knew the urgent need would change over time, and that being up to it meant changing with it.

That is why, when the floods hit, in just 24 hours we set up a 7,000 m² logistics center in Paterna to channel and distribute aid on a large scale. And thanks to the effort of a committed team, hundreds of volunteers and the support of companies, town councils and organizations across Spain and Europe, we have been able to reach thousands of people with food, hygiene and cleaning products and furniture.

Today we take a step forward. The logistics center in Paterna is stopping its deliveries of basic goods (food, hygiene and cleaning products), but it is not closing its doors. It becomes the operations center for this new rebuilding phase.

Since we set the logistics center up, we have delivered:

• More than 4,000 orders delivered.
• 43,000 people reached.
• €3 million in resources mobilized
• 99 partner companies
• 17 partner NGOs
• More than 1,500 volunteers

They have been intense months of collective work and constant learning. One key lesson we have learned is that needs change. Seven months after the floods, the emergency has taken new forms. It is no longer only about food, furniture or basic goods; the priorities now are getting homes back, getting the affected shops trading again and equipping sports spaces for children and young people, among other things. We are already actively working on a number of initiatives around these new priorities.

We will be ending the distribution of basic goods from our logistics center. We will therefore be closing the aid request platform on our website, which was used to ask for food, hygiene and cleaning products and furniture.

Important information for anyone who still needs help

• The online aid platform will be live until Tuesday, June 17 at 6.00 pm: link to the platform (here).

• Until Wednesday, June 25, at our logistics center *(Paterna, Valencia). Closed Wednesday the 24th for the public holiday.

• “Restoring liveable conditions” through drying out and repairing homes and donating building materials and furniture.

• “Resilient Local Business” support for small shops through training, discount programs and €50 vouchers for people in vulnerable situations.

• “Todos con la Educación Física en el Cole” equipping sports spaces for children and young people

• “Felisa Contigo” a WhatsApp chatbot to make it easier to access support and get alerts.
